Today at the ISB the primary children were learning all about Queen’s Day/Koninginnedag. This is a day celebrated on the 30th of April every year and is used to celebrate Queen Beatrix’s birthday ( although her real birthday is in January).
We played a game called The Washing Line and we had to dress up in strange outfits.
The Butterfly Class won this game(but may have had some help:-)
Next up was The Flag Race and there were some very fast runners.
Look at them Go!!!
Everyone made a huge effort to dress up in Dutch colours and the school was a sea of Orange.
Congratulations to all the children and teachers in the Primary school for all their hard work and preparation in making the opening ceremony a huge success!
The children presented their flags to a very enthusiastic audience and made a fantastic show. The show included a running commentary, a parade, dancing and of course lighting the Olympic torch!
What a brilliant start! I can’t wait for the ISB Olympics!
The children in the Tiger and Shark class are having their PE lessons taught by NAC football coaches!
The children will continue to have their weekly lesson with the NAC coaches during their IPC topic about the Olympics.
During the sessions the children will learn about fair play, healthy eating, keeping fit and of course football skills.
You can find out more about NAC at their website at http://www.nac.nl/index2.php
A big thank you to everyone who brought in, or bought a cake today!
The School Council sold cakes to all members of the ISB and our secondary partners (and neighbours) Mencia.
The primary school council decided to have a cake sale to raise money for a summer party for the whole school to enjoy!
We managed to raise over 200 euros – well done everyone.
In P.E the sharks and tigers class have been measuring their heart rates before and after exercise. We have been comparing BPM (beats per minute) before and after exercise. What do you notice? Click on the BPM Table above.
This week we will be beginning a new whole school theme. The Olympics. The children will be learning all about The Olympic games from the past up to the present London games that will be taking place in July this year.
The Butterfly class recently visited Technopolis,a science museum in Belgium.
As you can see one of the Butterflies decided to go underwater there.

On Tuesday 3rd April the Butterfly Class visited the Children’s Farm as part of their IPC theme on Changes’.
The children were a credit to the ISB and behaved brilliantly and had lots of fun!
The children enjoyed petting the goats and seeing the pigs, cows, hens, new lambs and rabbits.
The children also had the opportunity to explore the farm, go on the tractor and play on the adventure playground!
After a lot of fun at the farm the children were very hungry and all enjoyed freshly made soup. The soup was made from fresh produce from the allotment at the farm… delicious!
